Resolved: The Individual Mandate is Unconstitutional – A Debate

Friday, Apr. 9 @ 11am in BLB 109.

The Federalist Society invites you to join us for a Heathcare Debate, followed by Pappas BBQ!!

Mr. Todd Gaziano, the Director for the Center of Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation, will join UHLC Professor Seth Chandler in a debate on the topic of the recently passed healthcare legislation. Their point of debate will be:

Resolved: The Individual Mandate Is Unconstitutional.

Mr. Gaziano has garnered national attention (NYT, WP, WSJ) recently for a piece he published on the topic, which can be found here: http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2009/12/Why-the-Personal-Mandate-to-Buy-Health-Insurance-Is-Unprecedented-and-Unconstitutional

Furthermore, Professor Chandler is a health law expert, and one of the reasons our health law program is ranked so highly in the country. Needless to say, students and faculty will be able to better inform themselves concerning the debate regardless of political/philosophical view.
